Kieran Donaghy Joins Galway Hurling Backroom team

Date:

Former Kerry footballer Kieran Donaghy has joined the Galway hurling backroom team.

The Tribesmen are looking for an extra edge after losing last year’s All-Ireland final to Limerick by a single point.

Donaghy, who retired from intercounty football in recent months, joins the set-up as a performance coach.

This is not the first time manager Micheál Donoghue has made bold additions to his backroom team, having convinced strength and conditioning Coach Lukasz Kirszenstein to switch from Tipperary to Galway before the 2017 season.

The Austin Stacks club man will bring a wealth of experience to the table, after winning four All-Ireland football titles with Kerry.

Ex-Kilkenny hurler Michael Fennelly is currently involved in the Kildare football setup, while Kieran McGeeney worked with the Tipperary hurlers in recent years.

Galway are preparing for their Leinster title defense as they continue their Division 1B campaign.

They travel to Waterford for their final group game on Sunday, before a league quarter-final.
