Swansea City striker, Tammy Abraham believes his return to goal scoring, after a drought since October, will help him push for a spot in England’s squad for the World Cup.
Abraham ended his hoodoo with a brace and two assists in The Swans’ 8-1 thrashing of Notts County in the FA Cup, and the 20 year old is hoping to maintain same form till the end of the season, as he has set his sights on representing England at the World Cup in Russia this year.
With two caps to his name in friendlies against Germany and Brazil, the lad on loan from Chelsea can only be cap-tied to England national team in the next five months if he is selected by Gareth Southgate for the World Cup and makes his competitive debut in Russia.
Abraham picked up the Man of the Match accolade in Swansea’s rout of Notts County in the FA Cup, thanks to his two goals and two assists for the Welsh side.
The striker has now turned his attention fully on making England’s team to Russia 2018, with high hopes of finally settling the issue about a possible switch to play for Nigeria.
”It’s a good time to start scoring – the England games next month are at the back of my mind. I know I have to give a performance to get back in the team whenever I’m given the chance.
“I have to keep proving myself and that’s what I’m willing to do. Harry Kane came from nowhere to get to the Euros. Now I’m back, I’d obviously love to do that,” Abraham said.
