Ndidi Tipped For Eagles, Czech Republic Friendly

Date:

Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi has been tipped to return to action for the Super Eagles in their final World Cup build-up match against Czech Republic, as the national team’s medical crew believe he would have recovered fully at that time.

Ndidi has been ruled out of action for six weeks, after copping a season-ending hamstring complaint in action for his club penultimate weekend, but Eagles’ media officer, Toyin Ibitoye says latest checks indicate that the star is on course with his recovery process and should be able to feature for the national team on June 6.

The match against Czech Republic is billed for Austria, four days after the Eagles tango England in a high-profile clash at Wembley Stadium, London, and Ibitoye reckons Ndidi will be back among his colleagues for the last game before the squad heads out to Russia.

Though Ndidi is ruled out of warm-up games against DR Congo in Port Harcourt on May 28 and against England on June 2, Ibitoye assured that the former Racing Genk of Belgium defensive midfielder will be fit and ready for Russia 2018.

Ibitoye enthused: “He may not play again for Leicester City this season, but he is likely to at least play our final friendly against Czech Republic.

“He’s making good progress, I have been in contact with the medical team and he is recovering faster than they had even anticipated.”
