Bursaspor of Turkey defender, Shehu Abdullahi has taken a historical overview of his national team career so far, and says getting named to Nigeria’s provisional list for the World Cup as a highlight he is proud of.
While describing his inclusion in the 30-player list rolled out by Eagles coach, Gernoit Rohr on Monday, Abdullahi says he feels highly honoured to be named among those he called heroes of Nigerian football.
The former Kano Pillars and Anorthosis Famagusta of Cyprus star said he is also happy with the opportunity he had to play a key role in the qualifiers, against Zambia, Cameroon and Algeria, to secure a place in the Mundial.
The 25-yer old former defensive midfielder has been capped 12 times by Nigeria but is yet to register a goal on the international scene.
He was part of the home-based Eagles team that came third at the 2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in South Africa.
Abdullahi, who won bronze with Nigeria’s U-23 side at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, is now looking forward to making Nigeria’s final list to Russia 2018.
