Nwabodo Features as Cincinnati Maintain Unbeaten Start

Date:

FC Cincinnati got their first win of the new MLS season as they took a 2-1 win away at Chicago Fire. Pat Noonan travelled to Chicago with a point in their opening game and were keen to get their season going.

The first 45 featured just 3 attempts on target combined from both sides, but two goals were scored in that timeframe. Gabonese forward, Aaron-Salem Boupendza got Cincinnati going in the 39th minute, whilst Nwabodo conceded a penalty just before the halftime whistle.

Swiss forward, Xherdan Shaqiri was on cue as he converted the spotkick for Chicago Fire in the 45th minute, leaving the game level at the interval.

The second half was all about Cincinnati, mounting a whopping 8 attempts with 4 of them on target. In the 68th minute, Miles Robinson was on hand to convert a chance carved out by Luciano Acosta to give the away side the lead, one they would not relinquish until the final whistle.

Obinna Nwabodo put in a midfield shift featuring 86% passing accuracy, quality long passes, interceptions, tackles and a yellow card for a foul in the 43rd minute.

Cincinnati now have 4 points from their opening 2 games and they will now host FC Monterrey.
