“It is a must win” – Nduka Junior Sets Tone Against Sporting Lagos For NPFL Super Sunday Showdown

Date:

Remo Stars captain, Nduka Junior, has conceded that it could be difficult to beat Sporting Lagos at home and most especially as they had beaten the Lagos side in the reverse fixture of the showdown. He however, has told the fans to expect a positive result from the m when they line out to get hostilities started on Sunday.

The much anticipated encounter has had one of the most heated build ups to a match in the league so far this season after their first match promised and delivered great football in the final of the current season’s pre-season tournament. That particular encounter witnessed lovers of Nigerian football fill out the Mobolaji Johnson Arena to the very brim. The match ended in favour of the home side on penalties after Remo Stars roared back into the game with two goals from Adams Olamilekan netting a late brace, however, the equalizing goal was controversially ruled out.

Remo Stars would have their revenge in the first official match between both sides as they won 2-1 in Ikenne, Ogun State. Captain of the Remo Stars stadium landlords, Nduka Junior, ahead of the encounter enthused that the fans should expect a good game from them even though it could prove to be a difficult game as Sporting Lagos would be out to revenge the first leg loss.

“About what the fans should expect ahead of the game on Sunday, we know it’s a derby game and we defeated them on our home ground and we all know it’s not going to be easy because this is second round and they will definitely want to reciprocate, they will definitely want to come out and give us a good fight. But in all, they should expect a positive result, a positive outing from the boys on Sunday.”

Nduka, in a chat with Brila Media outlined the importance of the game in their title bid and that they will look to consolidate on their midweek success by beating Sporting Lagos at home.

“We know how important the game is to beat Sporting Lagos in their backyard on Sunday. We are aware of where we are on the log and for us to be a contender, it’s a must-win for us. Anything short of that is not too good for us. So we definitely want to win the game and come to our home ground on Wednesday to make sure we consolidate on the result.”

The game will happen at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos at 4pm.
