Kwara United goalkeeper Adewale Adeyinka has taken accountability for the club’s underwhelming performance in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) this season.
Adeyinka candidly stated, “As players, we know we haven’t done well enough but can still do better,” during an interview with Naija Footballers Forum. The Harmony Boys, under the leadership of coach Kabiru Dogo, find themselves struggling and currently hovering around the relegation zone.
Adeyinka emphasized the players’ responsibility, acknowledging, “Being in 15th position isn’t too good for the club and the supporters and is not encouraging for the state as well.” Despite the challenges, he expressed optimism about their ability to improve, stating, “We are taking the remaining fixtures of the season very seriously and am sure we are going to finish strong on the table.”
Adeyinka revealed the team’s internal discussions, saying, “We have been talking to ourselves to put more effort and the management, the coaches too, are encouraging us to step up our game which I believe we can change the narratives to a positive one.”
With determination and support, Kwara United aims to reverse their fortunes. The team’s upcoming match against Sporting Lagos at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Sunday presents an opportunity for them to demonstrate their resolve on the pitch.
