Ex-International Weighs in On Osimhen Reports

Date:

Former Nigerian international, Duke Udi has spoken out on reports regarding Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian hitman has reportedly being a centre of talk amidst fans and even his teammates based on his recent performances, especially his participation in a 3-1 loss to FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League round of 16.

Udi said criticisms are a very regular part of the game, even when you’re in good form. He also mentioned that there could be a conspiracy against the player and he should take it as a part of the learning curve.

He then suggested that Osimhen moved to a club that played a 4-3-3 system, highlighting that the 25 year old depended majorly on supplies from wingers.

In his exact words, Udi said :

“As a player of color, even when you do well, you’ll still have critics. Even teammates could conspire to not pass to you, just to put you in a bad shape. It’s not a mistake for Osimhen, but it’s a learning curve for upcoming players to know that when the ovation is loudest, please leave”

“Osimhen can fit in a 4-3-3 system, he can’t play a 4-4-2 formation. Same as Sadiq Umar. He wouldn’t know how to move if he played in a 4-4-2 with another striker, and same goes for Paul Onuachu. Osimhen has to move to a club that play 4-3-3”

“Osimhen depends on services from the wings, it’s the same thing that happened at the AFCON. He should leave, but he should have an agreement with the coach. So he can play in a system that suits him”
