Burundi’s seasoned referee, Pacifique Ndabihawenimana, has been appointed to officiate the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup second-leg quarter-final match between Algerian club USM Alger and Nigeria’s Rivers United.
Ndabihawenimana boasts a wealth of experience in officiating high-profile matches across the continent. His credentials include matches from this year’s CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup, as well as the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Notably, he was also the referee for the 2020/2021 CAF Champions League final clash between Kaizer Chiefs and Al Ahly.
Assisting Ndabihawenimana on the field will be Mohammed Ibrahim from Sudan as the first assistant and Liban Ahmed from Djibouti as the second assistant. Meanwhile, Ahmad Heeralall from Mauritania has been designated as the fourth official for the game.
The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) duties will be handled by Kenya’s Peter Kamaku, with South Africa’s Abongile Tom serving as his assistant.
The crucial quarter-final encounter is scheduled to take place at the Stade du Julliet in Algiers on Sunday. Rivers United currently holds a slim 1-0 advantage from the first leg against USM Alger.
