Ikorodu City forward Toheeb Gidado has expressed immense excitement following his team’s promotion to the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) for the upcoming season. The forward shared his joy and satisfaction over the club’s significant achievement after a challenging journey in the previous season.
“I’m very happy, super excited,” Gidado exclaimed. “It’s been a very good season for the team, a very good season for the management. When you look at where we are coming from last season, we were battling relegation playoff. And this season, you know, we got to the promotional playoff and managed to secure a ticket.”
Gidado highlighted the remarkable turnaround for Ikorodu City, which faced the threat of relegation just a season ago. The team’s hard work and determination paid off as they not only survived relegation but also clinched promotion to Nigeria’s top-flight league.
The forward praised the club’s management for their strategic planning and support, which played a crucial role in the team’s success. He noted that the atmosphere within the team has been one of optimism and eagerness as they prepare for the new challenges that await them in the NPFL.
“So I’m very happy and the team is very excited,” Gidado continued. “We are looking forward to the NPFL and we can’t wait to get started.”
