Shooting stars centre back, Gbolagade Adelowo has won the NPFL player of the season award. The centre back was awarded the honor at the Adamasingba Stadium in the club’s final game of the season, a 1-0 win over Sporting Lagos.
The centre back was reportedly perceived as unconvincing for the team during preseason, however Adelowo hit heights and played every minute of the league season with impressive performances all through.
The 26 year old also contributed his quota in front of goal, scoring twice and providing another two for the ibadan based side. He was awarded in front of an endearing home crowd and his mother was also on ground to celebrate the honor with her son.
Shooting Stars fell short of continental football finishing fourth, but it would be a campaign to remember for the club and for the impressive centre back, who has rewritten public opinion about his frame or style of play.
