Iheanacho a ‘No-Brainer’ for West Ham – McAvennie

Date:

Former West Ham United and Celtic striker Frank McAvennie has encouraged his former club to swiftly move for former Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho.

The Super Eagles forward’s contract with the Foxes ended last month, and he’s been linked with Aston Villa, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and West Ham United since then.

The 27-year-old is no stranger to the English Premier League, having won the league with Manchester City, and the EFL Championship, FA Cup, and Community Shield with Leicester City.

McAvennie, a former player for the Hammers between 1989 and 1992, expressed his admiration for Iheanacho and wants West Ham to sign him to bolster their attack ahead of next season.

“I like Iheanacho. I think he’s a great player. Oh my god, on a free transfer, I’d take him. It’s a no-brainer for me, though I’m not sure who this new manager will want,” the 64-year-old said in an interview with West Ham Zone.

Iheanacho made 232 appearances for Leicester City, scoring 61 goals and providing 34 assists.
