Ujah Ready To Back Eagles In Walk Out Against Racism

Date:

V Mainz of Germany striker, Anthony Ujah has disclosed that he is ready to support the Super Eagles if they decide to walk off the pitch in protest of any racist incident at this year’s World Cup.

Though the former Eagles striker admits no such incident has occurred in World Cup history, Ujah, who was recently a victim of racist chants in a German Bundesliga match, reckons it would be a huge way of making a statement.

Ujah stressed that the global soccer showpiece would be the ideal forum for footballers to show their of confrontation, speech, discrimination or bias due to the colour of their skin.

The former Warri Wolves star, who has also plied his trade in China and Norway, stated: “There’s no bigger statement than to walk off the pitch in protest against racism.

“No World Cup game has ended abruptly, but with the global attention if players do it; to protest racism I support.

“I do not advocate it and I don’t think FIFA will support it, but Players must do something about it. Racism may live beyond our time but we need to make a strong statement.”
