Super Falcons Ready to Face Brazil at Olympics – Randy Waldrum

Date:

The Super Falcons are set to face Brazil in their first group game at the Olympics, and head coach Randy Waldrum is positive about their chances.

According to Waldrum, the Nigerian women’s football team is in a much better position than they were last year, and he is confident that the team will match Brazil when the game kicks off.

The American Coach stated that there are no injury concerns ahead of the match and also confirmed the team has had excellent camping and preparation exercises as a result of the facilities and support provided.

“I like what we’ve seen in camp. Camp’s been really good. We had a great 10 or 12 days in Spain and in coming here, it’s been fantastic. The facilities have been great. The people have been wonderful. And the players are ready to go.”

“I think we’re in a better place than we were a year ago. I think our performances have just continued to improve since the World Cup,” he added.

Waldrum continued, “You know, it’s a very good Brazilian side. Right now, no concerns with injuries. And knock on wood, hopefully we don’t have any coming up. So we’re in a good place.”

“16 years is a long time. You know, a lot of these players were so young, they probably don’t even remember it. So I don’t think that past history has anything to do with that,” he concluded.

Super Falcons will face the Brazilian team tonight at 6pm GMT to kickoff their Olympics campaign.
