Rangers head coach Philippe Clement has provided an update on Leon Balogun’s injury following the Nigerian defender’s early exit at halftime during their impressive 6-0 win over Ross County.
The 36-year-old defender was already a concern for the match due to a recent knock, but with no viable defensive options, Coach Clement decided to start Balogun.
In the 38th minute, with Rangers leading, they earned a corner. Balogun challenged for an aerial ball but landed awkwardly, appearing to injure his back and head.
Medical staff were promptly called onto the pitch to attend to him and concluded he couldn’t continue the match.
After the match, Clement minimized concerns about the injury, expressing confidence in a swift recovery for Balogun.
“Leon got a knock and he hurt his neck. That was unlucky because he was good in the game, and last week, he missed, so I wanted to get him into the game rhythm. I don’t think it will be a big thing for next week, so I think in a few days he will be better. It’s just his neck is blocked now,” the Rangers coach told Sky Sports.
