Ex-International Supports Multitasking Zubairu

Date:

Former Nigerian International, Duke Udi has explained that Aliyu Zubairu can handle both national and club side assignments simultaneously. The El Kanemi Warriors gaffer has recently been appointed as the new coach of the Under-20 national team, with the WAFU B tournament upcoming.

Udi congratulated the coach on his appointment, and then explained that the gaffer is logical to still want to continue his club duties, as that is where the paycheck is.

“First of all, congratulations to him for the job and I wish him the very best. Secondly, national teams don’t pay the coaches. So, you won’t allow the man take a job where he doesn’t get paid, and leave a job where he gets paid because he he’s a familiar man and he has to cater for his family”, said the former international.

He further stated that if the national team pays him, then perhaps the coach should drop his club duties, otherwise he can carry on with both assignments.

“But if the national team pays, he can leave the team which is El Kanemi warriors. Nobody would leave where he gets paid a salary and go where there is no salary, no human being will do that, as everyone works for their family. So, you’ll prioritize where you get paid because that’s where you get paid. So, for people saying he should leave that job, i don’t see any reason why he should”, Udi added
