Lookman Nets First Career UCL Goal In Atalanta 3-0 Win

Date:

Ademola Lookman scored his first-ever UEFA Champions League goal as Atalanta cruised to a 3-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday.

The Nigerian forward made his mark in the UCL with a goal and an assist to help his team secure their first win of the 2024/25 campaign.

The match kicked off at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen, where Lookman was heavily involved from the start.

He provided the assist for Atalanta’s opening goal, sending a dangerous cross into the box that caused chaos before Berat Djimsiti tapped in from close range midway through the first half.

Just before halftime, the 26-year-old found space in the box and confidently converted Sead Kolasinac’s low pass, doubling Atalanta’s lead with his first Champions League goal.

Atalanta’s dominance continued into the second half, with Raoul Bellanova heading in Davide Zappacosta’s cross to make it 3-0, sealing the comfortable win.

This victory comes as a much-needed boost for Gian Piero Gasperini’s men, who have had a rocky start to their Serie A campaign, securing only two wins from their opening six matches.

Lookman’s performance, however, was a reminder of his prowess in Europe, following his hat-trick in the Europa League final last season.
