Libyan National Team Arrives in Nigeria for AFCON Qualifiers Clash

Date:

Libya’s national football team have arrived in Nigeria ahead of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON Qualifiers doubleheader against the Super Eagles.

The team touched down in Abuja on October 7 to begin the final phase of their preparations, before heading to Uyo for the first-leg clash at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on October 11.

Under the guidance of head coach Nasser Al-Hadhiri, assisted by Tunisian coach Akram Al-Hammami and Aboubaker Harak, the Libyan squad has been working hard to refine their tactics.

Their focus is to adapt to the Nigerian climate as they aim to secure their first victory in the qualifying campaign.

The Mediterranean Knights started their training camp in Tripoli, focusing on improving both fitness and strategy after a challenging start to their AFCON qualifying journey, which includes a draw against Rwanda and a loss to Benin.

With just one point from two matches, Libya is determined to make a strong statement in Uyo, knowing that a positive result will keep their AFCON 2025 hopes alive.

Libya’s technical staff has reportedly left no stone unturned in preparing for this encounter, where the Super Eagles lead Group D with four points after two games.

The Super Eagles will also be looking to extend their dominance over Libya, having won their last four encounters, including a 4-0 victory in Uyo during the 2019 AFCON qualifiers.

After the first-leg in Nigeria, Libya will host the second-leg on October 15 in Benina.
