Nigeria’s female national team, Super Falcons will be all out for victory this Wednesday, away to Gambia in the first leg of their 20187 African Women Nations Cup qualifier.
Falc ons coach, Thomas Dennerby called up 20 players for the match in Gambia, among whom are Osarenoma Igbinovia, Joy Jegede, Christy Ohiaeriaku, Amarachi Okoronkwo, Tochukwu Oluehi, Glory Ogbonna, Josephine Chukwunonye, Ngozi Ebere and Anam Imo.
Others are Alaba Jonathan, Esther Sunday, Onome Ebi, Faith Michael, Halimat Ayinde, Ngozi Okobi, Chinaza Uchendu, Asisat Oshoala, Desire Oparanozie, Francisca Ordega, Christy Ucheibe
The Falcons flew out of Lagos on Monday to Banjul, for the midweek clash against the Gambians, who defeated Burkina Faso in the earlier round as eight-time champions Nigeria drew bye.
The first leg is billed for Wednesday at Independence Stadium in Bakau, a short distance from Banjul; while the return fixture will take place at Agege Stadium, Lagos next Monday, 11th June.
NFF’s Head of Women’s Football, Ruth David, told thenff.com that the Falcons’ delegation will fly aboard an Air Peace aircraft from Lagos on Monday morning, to arrive Banjul by 11am.
The fixture is the last qualifying round for the 11th Women Africa Cup of Nations taking place in Ghana later in the year.
