Eagles’ Players Reject Daily Double Training Sessions

Date:

The Super Eagles reverted to single training sessions, after the players complained about double-sessions introduced by the gaffer, Gernot Rohr.

Although Rohr explained that they had to double their drills due to poor results picked up against England and Czech Republic, the players complained of overload and fatigue.

The players complained of Rohr making them train rigorously twice a day, in the morning and evening, which they said contributed to them being fatigued in their recent friendlies, while also pointing out that it caused tendencies for injuries.

It would be recalled that William Troost-Ekong, Chidozie Awaziem and Moses Simon have picked up training ground injuries, with the Gent winger eventually ruled out of the World Cup.

In furtherance to the players’ desires, their only training session on Sunday began at 10:30am and they had the rest of the day off.

On Saturday morning, they were involved in a full training session, including a practice game, but the evening session was a tactical one, with all the players in camp involved.

Consequently, the Eagles will train only once on Sunday and Monday before they fly out to their World Cup training camp in Yessentuki, Russia.
