New signing at Stoke City of England, Oghenekaro Etebo was on Saturday rated best player overall in Nigeria’s group opener against Croatia.
Although the Super Eagles lost the game 2-0, Etebo was rated best player on the pitch for Nigeria with 7.39 ahead of second-placed Wilfred Onyinen Ndidi with 7.35.
Ndidi finished the match with a game high five aerial battles won, and the holding midfielder was also the top tackler among the 28 players in action at the Kaliningrad Stadium.
With three interceptions racked up at the end of the game, Brighton & Hove defender Leon Balogun was the best player on the pitch in that category.
Etebo was the player with the best passing accuracy, with a game-high 92.5 percent, followed by Ndidi and Marcelo Brozovic with 90 per cent each.
The former CD Feirense and Las Palmas ace had the most touches in the game, 94, seven more than the second-placed player, Croatia’s Ivan Rakitic, and Real Madrid star Luka Modric (83).
Etebo was also the most fouled player in the game, with the opponents giving away eight fouls, and was the top dribbler after completing nine successful dribbles.
William Troost-Ekong was the flop of the match with a rating of 5.63, he finished the game with one tackle, one interception, two clearances, no blocked shots and committed two fouls.
