A cross-section of top shots and club administrators in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) embarked on the return flight back home from the World Cup in Russia on Sunday night, as part of the last delegation of stakeholders that left Saint-Petersburg.
Among the NPFL icons who boarded the Emirates flight out of Pulkovo Airport to Lagos on Sunday night were Rangers International of Enugu general manager, Davidson Owumi and Rivers United of Port Harcourt top shot, Okey Kpalukwu.
Most of the NPFL club officials and administrators spent their time in transit at the airport with discussions over the restart of the domestic season this weekend.
They were among the last batch of Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) officials and top shots that left St. Petersburg, back home via Dubai, few days after Eagles crashed out of the 2018 World Cup.
The Eagles’ players, crew and staff had earlier left their Essentuki base camp in batches to either join their families for holidays or back with their respective clubs for pre-season.
However, most of the Nigerians football stakeholders who boarded Sunday’s midnight flight from Pulkovo Airport were NPFL administrators and NFF secretariat staff.
