Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi is taking some time out for an extended holiday, but is ready to commence pre-season training with the squad once he gets a call to report for duty.
Ndidi has put behind him the disappointment of failing to help Nigeria reach the round of 16 stage at the World Cup and has now turned his attention on starting pre-season drills with his club, but has been allowed a longer rest than others in the squad.
A week after crashing out of Russia 2018 with the Super Eagles, the former Racing Genk of Belgium star is now set to link up with his club mates, as The Foxes put preparations in motion for the 2018/19 campaign.
The Foxes will face Notts County, Valencia and Lille Metropole in pre-season matches, before their first competitive game of the new season against Manchester United on August 11.
Before then, Ndidi will be in England but will officially resume at King Power Stadium when he gets a call from the manager, Claude Puel, who has allowed him to rest for one more week.
A hamstring injury kept the Leicester City Young Player of the Year out of action at the tail end of last season but he recovered in time to star for Nigeria at the World Cup.
The defensive midfielder made his World Cup debut against Croatia on June 16, before going the distance against Iceland and Argentina.
Ndidi was among three Leicester players with the Eagles at the World Cup in Russia, alongside Ahmed Musa and Kelechi Iheanacho, but they were all absent when The Foxes regrouped at Belvoir Drive on Monday morning.
