Peterside Hails Dele Alli’s Goal Against Sweden

Date:

Former Super Eagles media officer, Idah Peterside has added angle to reactions about Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, Bamidele Alli’s goal against Sweden last weekend, as he says it is worth celebrating by all Nigerians.

With the former Milton Keynes Dons star opting to wear his first name, ‘Dele’ on his jersey, rather than the global sounding ‘Alli,’ his Nigerian connection is never in doubt, such that Peterside claimed the player’s goal on Saturday for the African nation.

While Alli is in the semi-finals with the country of his birth and his mother, his father’s nation, Nigeria, failed to go beyond the group stage.

However, Peterside, who is an ex-international goalkeeper with several Super Eagles’ caps to his name, says seeing the Spurs dazzler in action is a consolation for all Nigerians.

Peterside, who is now a pastor and runs a church in South Africa, alongside his duties as a pundit on cable television, took to social media to celebrate Alli’s stunning header, which gave England a 2-0 win against Sweden on Saturday.

The former Iwuanyanwu Nationale of Owerri and Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa keeper added a long time photograph of Alli as a kid in the bosom of his estranged father.

Alongside the photo of memories, Peterside added catchy words in the post on his official Twitter handle idah pee @IdahPeterside, stating: “One of us just scored for England.”
