New signing at Lokomotiv Moscow of Russia, Bryan Idowu is still picking positives from his outings with the upper Eagles at this year’s World Cup, as he believes the experience was good for him and the other players.
Although the Eagles could not go beyond the first round at Russia 2018, which Idowu admits was disappointing and painful, the former Amkar Perm defender stressed that lessons learnt will show up for the team in the near future.
Idowu, who made his debut for Lokomotiv three days after joining the Russian Premier League champions on a free transfer, is optimistic that the Nigerian team will show further development for future competitions.
The Saint Petersburg-born fullback started all three matches Nigeria played at the World Cup and believes the Eagles will perform better at Qatar 2022, after gaining immense exposure in Russia.
For his first match since moving to The Railwaymen, Idowu went on in the 63rd minute of their pre-season friendly against Wolfsberger of Austria in a goalless draw between both sides.
The 26-year-old Russia-born rising star, who is also hoping to excel with Lokomotiv in their return to the UEFA Champions League, stated: ”The level of organization, stadiums – everything is super! It’s a shame that Nigeria could not leave the group.
”In the match with Argentina, only four minutes left, but we have a young team. This experience is necessary for further development and will be useful at the next World Cup.”
