Istanbul Basaksehir Release Musa Muhammed

Date:

Istanbul Basaksehir of Turkey have sent former Golden Eaglets captain, Musa Muhammed packing, as the Turkish side opted not to apply the second part of his contract with the team.

Rather than allow Muhammed return to the squad after two seasons away on loan, the UAE 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup winning skipper has been forced to hunt round for a new team in the summer transfer window.

This comes after Basaksehir stopped short of taking the option of extending his contract for a further two years, as contained in his contract, thereby leaving him as a free agent.

Muhammed joined the Turkish outfit in 2015 from FC Heart in a three year deal, snubbing offers from other top teams around Europe, who were keen on him following his exploits for the Nigerian youth teams.

However, he made just 11 appearances for the Istanbul-based side, all in the Turkish Cup, before heading out on loan to Bosnia, then made 16 appearances on loan to Lokomotiv Plovdiv of Bulgaria.
