So soon after hooking Henry Onyekuru on loan from Everton of Everton of England, Galatasaray of Turkey have reopened their bid to lure fellow-Nigerian attacker, Ahmed Musa from Leicester City.
In spite of initial reports that Galatasaray moved for Onyekuru because they could not convince Musa to join them this summer, the Istanbul-based side have sensationally reopened their interest in the former CSKA Moscow of Russia star.
Musa joined Leicester for £16 million from CSKA two years ago, but returned to Russian side on loan last season, after failing to find his feet at The Foxes.
Back in Russia, Musa, who has also played for VV Van Venlo of Holland, returned to top form then hit a climax at the World Cup, to regain frenetic interest in the summer transfer market.
Musa’s outstanding performances at Russia 2018, especially his match-winning double in the Super Eagles’ second group game, against Iceland, has seen him attract several suitors during the transfer window.
English Premier League rivals, Fulham and Huddersfield Town have also been linked with a move for Musa, who is now being touted to leave King Power Stadium this summer.
With Musa now hogging headlines and earning a surge in market value, Gala are back in the picture and are eager to get a swoop on his deal ahead of all other summer suitors.
Though Musa has been linked with a £40m move to Al Nassr of Saudi Arabia, Galatasaray coach, Fatih Terim sees him as a versatile player who can make hay either as a striker or as a winger down both flanks.
Terim is also keen to tap into Musa’s wealth of international experience, as Galatasaray will compete in three competitions in the coming season.
He now wants to lure the 25-year-old to Turkey with the prospect of another feel of UEFA Champions League football this new season as bait.
