Luka Modric’s popularity has soared after his stunning World Cup campaign, so much so that someone in Peru has decided to name their newborn after him.
A couple in Peru are such big fans of Luka Modric that they’ve named their son after the Real Madrid player. In the city of Cajamarca, the boy entered the world the morning after Modric produced a midfield masterclass as Croatia knocked out England in extra time of their semi-final clash.
As you can see below it’s all official, with all the relevant documentation complete.

It seems children being named after footballers isn’t a rarity in Peru, though this is the first Luka Modric to fail from the South American country.
It’s been reported that there are 870 people named Cristiano Ronaldo, 232 named Lionel Messi and 23 named Antoine Griezmann in honour of the World Cup winner.
