Hamza Abara is hoping Niger Tornadoes don’t rest on their laurels when they host Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) leaders next Wednesday
The Ikon Allah Boys have earned praise from all quarters following their impressive show so far in the top flight.
As they prepare to face a Lobi side who are on top of the log, Abara wants his players to build on their performance against the Pride of Benue.
“The praise we have received has been fantastic as it’s an endorsement of the work the players have put in,” he said to Footballlive.ng.
“We are full of energy and adrenaline and now we need to keep using it. We need to go out and win at home to Lobi Stars.
“We [the coaching staff] were hoping there would be plenty of competition and that the team would not rest on their laurels.
“We won’t allow that and they won’t allow that either. I already warned that we were in good shape ahead of the Lobi game. To beat them is one step up the ladder.
The former Sokoto United boss has the relative luxury of a fully-fit squad to choose from at the moment.
“It is a good problem to have, but it is still a problem leaving players behind. We need to make decisions for sporting reasons but also for personal reasons. For me, having to leave players out is the worst thing.
“It is hard but I prefer to have all of my players. There could very possibly be tactical changes.
Tornadoes who are sixth on the log, are six points adrift Lobi Stars.
