ABIA WARRIORS RETURN TO WINNING WAYS, BEAT KADA CITY 1-0

Date:

Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia defeated visiting Kada City of Kaduna 1-0 in a week four Nigeria Professional League contest to re-ignite their campaign after recording some uninspiring results in their previous two games.

Substitute, Emeka Isaac converted from the spot in the 83rd minute to give the Warriors all the three points at stake after Kada City goalkeeper, Sunday Okoh brought down rampaging Obi Samson in the area.
Warriors Manager, Henry Makinwa had made seven changes to the side that started against Go Round in their last  game and the team showed some early signs of promise with constant raid on their opponents half but the visitors, making their debut in Nigeria’s top flight, defended stoutly.
But they could hardly do anything when substitute, Obi Samson controlled Fatai Abdullahi’s lofted pass in the area and was about pulling the trigger when Okoh hacked him down and centre referee, Foluso Ajayi did not hesitate to point to the spot .
Isaac, who also netted against Go Round, made no mistake,  sending the goaltender the wrong way to put smiles back on the faces of their supporters.
Thereafter, the game became a ding dong affair as the visitors came out of their shell in search of the equaliser but the Warriors held on to record their first win of the season.
Next for the Umuahia lads is another home game against another newly promoted side, Gombe United on Sunday.
