Super Eagles Forward, Ademola Lookman, stole the spotlight once again, leading Atalanta to a dominant 6-1 victory over Verona in the Italian Serie A.
The Ballon d’Or and CAF Player of the Year nominee delivered an extraordinary performance, scoring twice and providing two assists in a match that showcased his unstoppable form.
This strengthens his case as the frontrunner for the CAF Player of the Year award, with the ceremony just around the corner in December.
The 27-year-old wasted no time, setting the tone early by providing an assist in the 6th minute. Just eight minutes later, he registered another assist, ensuring Atalanta took firm control of the game.
Ademola Lookman wasn’t done yet. In the 29th minute, he found the back of the net for his first goal, and only five minutes later, he doubled his tally, completing his brace within the first half.
By halftime, Atalanta had already scored five goals, with Lookman at the heart of their attacking prowess.
Unsurprisingly, the forward was named Man of the Match at the end of the game, capping off an impressive night.
“Another good performance from the team. The first half was very, very good, we scored five goals and everyone was top,” Lookman told Sky Sport Italia.
The in-form forward is now set to attend the prestigious Ballon d’Or ceremony on Monday, riding high on his incredible recent form.
“It’s a massive moment for the club and also for me. A special, special moment. We made history last year, thanks to everyone, we continue to work hard and keep going.”
With 5 goals and 5 assists in just 10 matches this season, Lookman has proven to be one of the most consistent performers in Europe.
