Everton of England winger, Ademola Lookman could be on the verge of joining fellow-Nigerian-born youngster, Michael Obafemi in forming a potent attack force at Southampton.
This is sequel to a report reaching footballlive.ng, which indicates that Southampton manager, Ralph Hasenhuttl is lining up a move for Lookman in the Janaury transfer window.
Altyhough Lookman had been quoted only on Monday to have declared his loyalty to Everton, The Saints’ boss appears ready to test the former RB Leipzig of Germany lad’s true comportment with The Toffees.
Considering that Hasenhuttl is a former coach of Leipzig, he has his eyes fully on Lookman and has earmarked the FIFA U20 World Cup winner with England’s Young Lions as a perfect addition to his team.
While Southampton are winless in their last four games, Lookman scored one of the goals in his side’s 2-1 FA Cup win over Lincoln last time out.
However, he started just one Premier League game for The Toffees this season, accruing barely 459 minutes in all competitions this season, as he battles to overcome disillusion over the club’s refusal to sanction a full transfer deal for him at Leipzig.
Incidentally, Hasenhuttl orchestrated the 21-year-old’s loan move to Leipzig last season where his talents came to fore with five goals and four assists produced in just eleven outings in the German Bundesliga.
Southampton could, thus seek a short-term agreement for Lookman, who is behind the pecking order of attackers at Goodison Park to help reinforce their own front line, playing alongside Ireland’s Obafemi.
