Aigbogun Submits Flying Eagles’ Final List

Youth national team, Flying Eagles coach, Paul Aigbogun has confirmed that he has submitted his final list of 21 players for this year’s African U-20 Cup of Nations in Niger Republic.

Aigbogun disclosed that he submitted the list to Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), for onward transmission to Confederation of African Football (CAF) ahead of the deadline on Tuesday.

He affirmed that all 21 players he has listed are the ones he believes will do Nigeria proud in Niger Republic, starting next weekend, February 2.

Nigeria battle host nation Niger Republic, South Africa and Burundi in the eight nation finals, with all four semi finalists guaranteed spots at the FIFA U20 World Cup in Poland, from 23rd May to 15th June.

The seven-time African champions’ first clash is with Burundi at Stade General Seyni Kountche (starting from 7.30pm) next week Saturday.

Same day, the host nation, Niger Republic will battle South Africa’s Amajita at same venue in the opening match, starting from 4.30pm.

The Flying Eagles then play the Amajita on Tuesday, 5th February before rounding off the group against the host nation on Friday, 8th February.

Aigbogun added that the team have put behind disappointment of the cancellation of an international friendly with Saudi Arabia’s U20 squad, which was scheduled to hold in Jeddah on Tuesday, and they will now focus fully on doing well at Niger 2019.

“The list has been submitted and will be sent to CAF ahead of Tuesday’s deadline for the submission of final squads. Our delegation is departing Nigeria for Niger Republic on Tuesday next week,” Aigbogun disclosed.
