In a crucial fixture at Goodison Park, Everton secured a vital 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest, boosting their hopes of climbing the table and distancing themselves from the relegation zone.

The match started with Everton showing their intent early on, and their efforts were rewarded in the 29th minute when Idrissa Gueye unleashed a powerful strike from the edge of the area to give the hosts the lead. Gueye’s clinical finish ignited the home crowd and set the tone for Everton’s dominance in the first half.

As the game progressed, Everton continued to control proceedings, limiting Nottingham Forest’s attacking opportunities while creating chances of their own. In the 76th minute, Everton doubled their lead through Dwight McNeil, who capitalized on an assist from Abdoulaye Doucoure to slot the ball home and put Everton firmly in control of the match.

Despite Nottingham Forest’s efforts to mount a comeback, Everton’s solid defense held firm, ensuring that they secured all three points and a valuable clean sheet.

Ola Aina stood out for Forest, winning a whopping 10 ground duels, making 5 tackles and he also had a shot blocked in the encounter.

With this important win, Everton moves up to 16th place in the table with 30 points from 33 games, providing a much-needed boost to their campaign to avoid relegation. Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest remains in 17th place with 26 points from 34 games played, as they continue to battle for points in their bid to climb the table.
