Aina Misses Chelsea’s Friendly With Inter

Date:

Chelsea returnee, Ola Aina has been left out of The Blues’ squad to battle Inter Milan of Italy this weekend in a pre-season friendly.

Despite getting to play a part in Chelsea’s first pre-season game under their new gaffer, Maurizio Sarri, a 1-0 win away to Perth Glory of Australia last week, Aina was not deemed good enough for the flight to Italy.

In what could be a hint that he is headed for another loan exit from Stamford Bridge this season, Aina and Kenneth Omeruo were left out of the 23-man squad that went south across the English Channel on Friday.

Though all talk had been only on Omeruo not being registered by Chelsea for the new season, Aina now appears to have entered the same boat with the Super Eagles defender.

After missing out on a spot with the Eagles to this year’s World Cup in Russia, Aina is now facing another shut-out, with a strong hint now that he is not in Sarri’s plans for the season.

Aina had a convincing loan spell at Hull City last term, playing 46 games in all competitions and scored his first professional goal for The Tigers, while also getting three assists.

While Aina traveled with the team to Australia last week, he has missed out on the latest roster following the return of The Blues’ key players who had earlier received extended breaks after their exertions at the World Cup.

Consequently, Aina will not play a part in Chelsea’s high-profile friendly against Inter Milan on Saturday.
