Head coach of Ibom Angels Whyte Ogbonda is confident his team has all it takes to defeat Rivers Angels in the final of the 2018 Aiteo Cup final at the Samson Siasia stadium in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state.
Ibom Angels lost the 2017 edition final to Rivers Angels in Lagos and will be hoping for a better fate in Bayelsa this time around. “I am confident that we will win tomorrow’s final. We have prepared well, the girls are well motivated and hungry. We lost to the same team last year, we have learnt from our mistakes and we are ready now.”
After Akwa united failed to defend their Aiteo Cup title in the men’s category the coach says it is left for them to make the people of Akwa Ibom happy. “The government have done a lot for the team and winning the title is the best way to repay them for the support they have given to us.”
Ogbonda who spent seven season with Rivers Angels under the tutelage of former Super Falcons handler Edwin Okon says he also learnt a lot from his former boss. “I learnt a lot from him on this job. I won lots of titles and federations cup with the team so I understand his ideology which is to always be focused and result oriented and that ideology is what we will use against them.”
Ibom Angels beat Edo Queens 2 – 0 in the semi final to book their Aiteo Cup final ticket.
