Coach of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Kwara United, Abubakar Bala has rued his side’s exit from the Aiteo Cup.
The Harmony Boys were beaten 3-1 by Katsina United at the Agege Stadium in the quarter finals of the tourney.
“It was so painful to exit the Aiteo Cup competition. There is no point blaming anyone for the ouster.”
“We gave the competition our best shot but we couldn’t go past the quarter finals.”
Speaking in a chat with Footballlive.ng, the former Niger Tornadoes gaffer expressed satisfaction with his side’s run in the competition.
“We tried our best but it wasn’t enough to march on to the next round of the Aiteo Cup competition. I think my boys gave a good account of themselves,” he enthused to Footballlive.ng.
“Kwara United did well in both the Aiteo Cup matches. From the preliminaries to the quarter finals, we performed creditably well.”
The coach added that he was impressed with his team’s performance in the 2017/18 NPFL season since joining them, although he blamed the quarter final exit in the Aiteo Cup on momentary loss of concentration.
