Enugu Rangers forward Chidera Ezeh said the only thing on his mind during the Aiteo Cup quarterfinal against Akwa United was marching on to the next stage.
The Flying Antelopes qualified at the expense of the Promise Keepers with a 4-2 penalty shootouts triumph after the match was tied 1-1 at the end of 90 minutes.
Godwin Aguda converted the winning spot kick after Michael Ibe and Jamiu Alimi had missed for the Uyo based outfit, but Ezeh maintained he was always certain his team could get their noses back in front.
“In principal we came with the intention of getting to the semifinal and I had faith in my teammates that we could win,” he told Footballlive.ng.
The striker said he was certain the result would have a positive effect on his team, having now qualified for the next round, but does not consider Rangers favourites for the competition.
“You have to separate the good performance we gave against Akwa United with the tag of favourites.
“There is still a long way to go and a lot of hard work to do.”
