It was a tough and rough night for Nigerian midfielder, Abdul Jeleel Ajagun as K.V. Kortrijk were hammered 3-0 by Club Brugge in a Jupiler League match on Friday night.
Ajagun, who had earned two starts of the three league matches so far this season, could not halt the onslaught as the host raced to a two-goal lead inside the opening 8 minutes.
A third goal, scored with just 12 minutes of the second half played, effectively knocked the wind out of Kortrijk.
Subsequently, Ajagun was sacrificed; replaced after 79 minutes in a like-for-like replacement, for Brazilian Kanu.
The result sees Glen De Boeck’s men slump to 13th in the table, with just one point and the league’s worst defensive record in the opening weeks.
