Fast-rising female striker, Rasheedat Ajibade could have moved to Sweden instead of Norway, but for pressure on her by officials of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the women’s national team, Super Falcons.
Footballlive.ng gathered on authority that Ajibade had been closer to a deal with Vaxjo DFF in the Swedish Damallsvenskan, only to end up being unveiled by Avaldsnes IL of Norway on Wednesday.
However, it is understood that it took pressure from an official in the Falcons and another at the NFF to convince the FC Robo Queens of Lagos product to snub a three-year contract offer from Vaxjo.
It was also learnt that FC Robo’s coach, Emmanuel Osahon and Ajibade’s agent were inclined more towards the deal in Norway, hence their lukewarm response to negotiations Vaxjo DFF.
They eventually opted for developmental trappings for Ajibade at Avaldsnes IL, as against the offer from Vaxjo, which included accommodation and academics financial support in the Scandinavian country.
However, despite Vaxjo also flaunting the fact that they had fellow-Falcons star, Osinachi Ohale on their cards last season, Ajibade’s mentors pushed her to seal a deal with Avaldsnes IL on Boxing Day.
