Akinwunmi: We Are Closer To AFCON 2019 Ticket

Date:

First vice-president of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi has expressed a high level of excitement over the spirit inside the country’s national team’s camp, as he says the Super Eagles are closer to picking a ticket to next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.

Akinwunmi, who was the head of Nigeria’s delegation to Tuesday’s reverse fixture against Libya in Sfax, Tunisia, said the Eagles’ 4-0 win during the first leg in Uyo further raised hope about their chances of making it to Cameroon 2019.

Footballlive.ng can report further that Akinwunmi is of a view that the team will now be able to play all their remaining matches in a relaxed mood, but urged the players not to rest on their oars until the very last match against South Africa.

Akinwunmi, who is also chairman of Lagos State Football Association, said: “The players did a great job in Uyo on Saturday.

“All they need is step up a gear and make the road much smoother for us towards Cameroon 2019.
“We have confidence in the players that we have here, as well as the technical crew, and we believe they will do the job.”
