Chippa United of South Africa goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi has declared that the biggest weakness Bafana Bafana have, which the Super Eagles can exploit against them this weekend, is lack of physical assets.
Akpeyi, who conceded two goals against the South Africans in Uyo last year, thereby marking the beginning of his descent from his previous number one status in the Eagles, believes Nigeria can nudge their hosts with sheer strength and stamina.
Akpeyi, who Eagles’ coach, Gernot Rohr admits could get the nod to start in goal on Saturday, because he knows the opponents inside-out, says he is sure Nigeria will carry the day at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.
However, the 32-year-old former Heartland of Owerri and Warri Wolves of Delta State shot-stopper admitted that Bafana Bafana are technically and tactically well-balanced, which could pose a threat for the Eagles.
Regardless of that, though, he went on to declare that the chance of qualifying early for AFCON 2019 with victory on Saturday would be a huge motivating factor for the Eagles, who missed the past two editions of the continental soccer showpiece.
Akpeyi said: ”It gives us an extra motivation for the team to do well, we are not just going to talk the talk, we are going to walk the walk.
”They are technically sound, that’s one thing I know about them and they are tactical as well.
”I know one fact that physically they are not solid enough to stand against the Super Eagles.”
