As the 2018/2019 Nigeria Professional Football League set to kick off this weekend, Akwa United have expressed their readiness to go all out to make huge statement more than last season.
The team who set out on Thursday in readiness for the league that will start on Sunday said through their Media Officer, Mfon Patrick that the government, the management, fans and the good people of the state cannot wait for the league to start.
“I can unequivocally say today that we are ready for the league and that is the reason we set out today to have a group photograph. We narrowly missed the continental football last season, a situation that didn’t go down well with us but this season where we are going to have an abridged league, Akwa United is a team to beat and move a step further to achieve our dream” Patrick boasts
The Promise Keeper finished 2nd behind Lobi Stars last season at week 24 after LMC and NPFL Club Owners agreed to end the league abruptly at matchday 24.
With the Brazilian handler in charge, Coach Raphael Everton, the club will be looking to go a step further this season.
Uyo based side will open this season campaign at home this Sunday as they play host to El Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri at the Goods will Akpabio stadium in Uyo.
