Akwa United’s caretaker coach, Umar Abdullahi, praised his team’s disciplined performance in their 2-1 triumph over Plateau United at the New Jos Stadium.

Gerome Heutchou and Sani Suleiman found the net for Akwa United, while Plateau United’s Sunday Anthony scored the lone goal for the hosts.

Abdullahi, speaking in a post-match interview, commended his players’ determination to secure the crucial victory, reflecting on the team’s collective effort and their adherence to the game plan. He said “We are very happy for the victory. We worked hard for it and we thank God that we got all three points from this match”.

Following the match, he expressed satisfaction with the team’s response to his instructions and highlighted the significance of the win in lifting the team out of the relegation zone. “This victory is very important to us because it will motivate us to go for more wins which we know will take us to a safe position on the log.

“The boys responded well in the two away games by picking four points from the games”. “We knew that we needed to be at our very best against Plateau United because they are a very good side with an impressive home record,” he explained, underlining the significance of the victory in halting the team’s poor away run.
