Al-Merrikh SC has officially unveiled Super Eagles goalkeeper, Ojo Olorunleke, as one of their new signings on a two-year contract.
The former Giwa FC and Enyimba FC goalkeeper was Nigeria’s third-choice goalkeeper at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
The AFCON silver medalist bid farewell to Enyimba FC in their final game of last season on June 23, after three years with the club.
According to multiple sources, the shot-stopper has the option to extend his contract for another year, potentially securing his stay in Omdurman beyond 2026.
Reacting to his unveiling on social media shortly after the ceremony, Ojo Olorunleke attributed his transfer to his faith in God.
“Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their mind cannot change anything,” Olorunleke said. “I’ve been clapping for others when it happened to them. Now God has rewarded me. I start another journey in Your name, oh Lord. Let Your mercy, grace, favor, and love abide with me all through. Amen.
“I am a light that must shine.”
