Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi has etched his name into the Premier League history books, setting a new record for the most minutes played by a Nigerian player in the English top-flight.
The 27-year-old achieved this milestone during Fulham’s recent match against Newcastle United, where he played the full 90 minutes.
Iwobi’s remarkable feat surpasses the previous record held by former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi, solidifying his place as one of Nigeria’s most prominent figures in English football. With a total of 16,289 minutes played in the Premier League, Iwobi has exceeded Mikel’s record of 16,218 minutes.
Having previously represented Arsenal and Everton, Iwobi made the switch to Fulham last summer, bringing his talent and experience to Marco Silva’s squad.
Throughout the current season, the versatile midfielder has showcased his abilities on the pitch, contributing five goals in 25 league appearances for Fulham.
