Juventus boss Massilimano Allegri has warned there will be times when Cristiano Ronaldo finds himself on the bench.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner joined the Bianconeri for a club record €100 million deal this summer. While Allegri has confirmed Ronaldo will make his home debut in Saturday’s clash with Lazio, he assured the former Real Madrid superstar he will have to start some matches as a sub.
Max Allegri hailed Cristiano Ronaldo for ‘raising the bar’ at Juventus ahead of facing Lazio but warned he was not afraid of benching the No 7, just like the rest of his squad.
“Ronaldo always puts himself in contention,” Allegri said.
“He’s a true champion, who has built himself with work and sacrifice.
“He’s a good example and he raises the bar here.
“Ronaldo will never be on the bench, right? No, it can happen.”
Juventus host Lazio in Serie A tomorrow before a trip to Parma next week.
Ronaldo started up front on his own in the win over Chievo, with Juan Cuadrado, Paulo Dybala and Douglas Costa behind the ex-Manchester United star.
Gonzalo Higuain did not feature but could be back for this weekend’s fixture.
