Amapakabo To Check Out Facilities In Asaba

Date:

Super Eagles assistant coach, Imama Amapakabo has been detailed to check out facilities in Asaba, Delta State ahead of the the arrival of players to camp this weekend, footballlive.ng can report.

The Eagles’ camp is expected to be in full boom by Monday at the latest and the squad will spend a week in the Delta State capital before travelling to play South Africa in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Their match in Johannesburg is billed for next Saturday, November 17, for which the Eagles will fly out direct from Asaba on a chartered flight just 24 hours to the game at FNB Stadium, Johannesburg.

It means the players will spend at least four nights in Asaba, as they go through various activities, routines and sessions in the their build-up to the big match, which could define Nigeria’s return to the continental soccer showpiece.

Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr has already raised strong permutations that make the forthcoming match decisive, knowing that a win would confirm Nigeria’s ticket with a match to spare, while a draw would give them a mathematical chance of nicking it as well.

Considering the importance of next weekend’s game, Rohr has now detailed Amapakabo to check out facilities, conveniences and other settings that the team will use during their stay in Asaba.

Rohr hinted that Amapakabo will handle several key areas of the Eagles’ camp preparations before he arrives from his base in France on Friday to finalise plans for all aspects of the match build-up.

The Franco-German soccer tactician disclosed: “I will arrive after the European games this week.

“My assistant Imama is checking the training’ possibilities in Asaba such as fitness, pitch, recovery and every other necessary matter that concerns preparations in Asaba.”
