Former Super Eagles striker, Yakubu Ayegbeni is making a case for a Turkish player at one of his former clubs, Everton, as he says the lad under fire, Cenk Tosun will come good.
Tosun is struggling for goals this season, but Yak Attack’ recounted that he faced a similar challenge when he joined The Toffees from Middlesbrough, where he enacted a goals scoring rpess in the previous season.
Yak, fondly called ‘The Bull’ during his playing days, is now a coach in Finalnd but is in regular contact with his former base, Goodison Park, where he says Tosun can still make his mark if given enough time.
Yakubu declared: “Tosun is trying hard. He’s come from Besiktas in Turkey and it’s a big difference.
“English football is quicker and more physical than what he’s used to but he will score goals.
“It was a big challenge when I left Middlesbrough. There’s a big expectation when you sign for Everton.
“Everyone wants you to do so well (but) you just need to be patient with him. He will get better. He’s an experienced player.
“It’s not going to be easy for him but if we encourage him, he will score goals.
“We’ve seen he can score goals already, he just needs to keep working hard and the goals will come.”
