Super Falcons forward, Gift Monday, is grateful to interim coach Justin Madugu as Nigeria prepares for their doubleheader friendly matches against Algeria.
Monday, excited to be back in the team, highlighted how the coach’s focus on including domestic-based players has created a sense of comfort and familiarity for her, especially given her own background in the Nigeria Women’s Football League.
“I feel great, I feel honoured. I’m liking what the coach is bringing to the team, so yeah, I feel so comfortable with the programme because I was once playing for the Nigerian Premier League and I’m so familiar with the players here.”
“It’s great coming back to play with my friends. Everybody is relaxed and comfortable with each other.”
Gift Monday described Madugu as both knowledgeable and supportive, and also, an “encouraging father” to the squad.
She reassured fans that the Super Falcons are committed to delivering a strong performance.
“As an individual and as a team player, I would say that the fans should just expect the best from the Nigerian Super Cup. We’re giving our best and obviously going to give Nigeria the victory.”
